Fiat or not to Fiat…

…that is the question.

Whether Bogie likes it or not we need to buy a new car. Our Buick is a 1995 and our Toyota a 2001. So 17 years and 11 years respectively are pretty old vehicles.

Recently I have seen quite a few Fiat’s running around town. The new ones, called Pop’s. They are so cute. I fell in love with them.

Normally I wouldn’t even consider buying a new car, I always say only used cars for me. The depreciation and all that. But the price on these Fiats is too good to pass up and did I mention they are cute.

Plus our bank has a partnership with certain dealerships to give their members a discounted price on their cars, so the price for the Fiat is very, very good. Did I mention it is cute, okay, I’ll move on.

I have done my due diligence. Checked other dealerships, went on-line to browse the Fiat websites and I have just finished getting pre-approved for a car loan from our bank. Oh, and our bank gives you a .25% decrease on the interest rate of the loan if we buy the car from one of their partner dealerships.

I am going to visit the dealership on Saturday, hopefully they will have a car and color that Bogie and I can agree on. Keep your collective fingers crossed.

Yard work…is it laziness or something else?

We live in a very wooded area. Our house sits on an acre of land. One half of that acre is woods and a creek. A beautiful area.

Every season brings its challenges yard work wise. Almost every fall I am under the delusion I can spread seed and grow grass. How silly of me. It should be easy right. Throw around some seed, apply some fertilizer, and in a few days, 10 at the most, I should get grass. Yeah right.

We have a persistent moss problem because we live in a very humid climate and because we have so many trees the dampness has a hard time dissipating. The sun rarely penetrates the trees. Good for temperature, bad for our lawn/yard.

I have grown grass…my… yes. But it never stays around for longer than a season or two. By July, or if the summer is kind, August, my grass has perished. Alas poor grass I knew you well.

It is so sad, because I yearn for a beautiful lawn. I think I would need three full time gardeners and a prayer vigil to grow and keep grass on my land. I just thot of something…maybe my land is cursed! That would explain a lot.

My back yard is a whole other story and too long to go into here. It involves a garden, the death of our two dogs, and sadness beyond measure. Surely that story is for another blog.

Here is one of the most beautiful places we visited while on our cruise. White powdery sand, amazing weather and enough beer to shake a stick at. Just kidding about that last part, but I did have a beer or two.

Vacation

I know I have been absent. No excuse what-so-ever. Well, maybe laziness.

Last week we went on our first cruise. It was such a nice vacation. We went with my in-laws. Six adults and two children. Holland America Cruise Line. We stopped at St. Thomas, Puerto Rico, Grand Turks and Half Moon Cay. The ship held 2500 guests and 900+ staff. A large ship.

The weather was wonderful, in the 80′s most of the time. Two pools, a casino many bars and lounges, a spa, gym and a few shops. Our room was wonderful. It had a verandah so we could sit out and watch the ocean/sea to our hearts content.

Here we are, all except Bogie, he is taking the photo. I am the one in the middle.
