thotlady.com » weightloss http://thotlady.com way too much thinking going on Mon, 06 Feb 2012 21:14:36 +0000 en hourly 1 http://wordpress.org/?v=3.3.1 When it rains it pours… http://thotlady.com/archives/381 http://thotlady.com/archives/381#comments Fri, 31 Oct 2008 13:45:35 +0000 thotlady http://thotlady.com/?p=381 Which in this case is a good thing, but stressful.  I finally heard from the university where I applied for the new job.  Long, long story short…they offered me the job.  The human resource person said I was by far the best candidate.  The only problem is…they have a very strict, rigid salary structure.  [...]]]> Which in this case is a good thing, but stressful.  I finally heard from the university where I applied for the new job.  Long, long story short…they offered me the job.  The human resource person said I was by far the best candidate.  The only problem is…they have a very strict, rigid salary structure.  I make a nice salary at my current job and they cannot match that salary.  It is considerably less.  Now comes the hard part…deciding how important the money is.  Everything else when I weigh it against my current job is better.  They have a retirement fund the university contributes to as well as matching what I contribute to a point.  Vacation/Sick days, I would have four more days at the new job.  I would have four more holidays, but what is even better about the holidays is, from Decmeber 24 through January 2nd are all holidays.  So I would get the week off between Christmas and New Years every year without using a stitch of vacation.  Yeahhh.  It is five minutes from my house…literally five minutes from my house.  Now I drive a half hour in the morning and at night.   Plus I go home for lunch every day…you heard me right…every day!  I have a handicap puppy and it is another long story.  I think I would like the work better and the university is financially much more secure than my current employer. 

Do you see a theme here?  Everything says take the new job, BUT the salary.  How important is the money anyway?  I guess that is an individual question each person has to answer on their own. 

But that is not the only gum in the works.  Yesterday I also received a call from another staff member at the university’s HR department.  She wants to set up an interview for another position I applied for at the university.  Can you believe it.  This position would be in the fundraising department and a higher pay grade.  There’s that salary question again.  The only problem here is…I think the other job would be more interesting.  I would be working in the International department of the university.  I liked everyone that I met in the department the day I interviewed.  So that’s what happened yesterday.

My husband (let’s call him Bogey from now on) and I talked it over last night.  I crunched the numbers, compared everything frontwards and backwards.  Everyone I talked to told me to take the job even though it pays less.  None of them knew about the other job at the university.  I didn’t really find out about it until I got home from work yesterday.

So what do you all think?  I have to make a decision today.  I have actually made my decision, but I was wondering what my blogger friends thot.  Let me know in the comments section.

Another positive thing today, I lost another two pounds this week.  I have now lost a total of…drum roll please….26.5 pounds.  My goal was 25 pounds, so I am very, very happy.  You can see my journey of weight loss over on this page of my site.  Take a look.  I will probably take that page down soon since I have reached my goal.

My sister, Cathy (I can use her real name now, since she comments using her name and has given me permission to use it in my blog) is on a diet and told me she has lost 8 pounds so far…you go girl.  Keep it up.  I told her it does get a little easier as time passes.
