Same crap…different day

I’ve got nothing. How do people come up with shit to write about every day? And then how do they find the time or energy to write it? Really, really? Granted some of the stuff I read is crap, but still, some isn’t too bad.

I think I am a reasonably intelligent adult woman, but most days I can’t think of anything that is worth putting pen to paper or fingers to keyboard as it were. So I think I will just ramble today.

When email first came out, how excited were we? We were so excited to check our email every hour of every day. I maybe received 5-10 emails a day. Now, yikes I wish I received 5-10 emails per day. Email has become the bane of my existence. I don’t think a lick of work can get done without putting it in an email. People stop sending so many emails. It is mostly because everyone feels the need to cover their butts. I need to get it in writing, I need to get it in writing…sheesh.

Diets

It is only January 9 and I am already sick of the diet commercials. We all know the secret to losing weight. Cut off one of your limbs. Nuff said.

I have a question. Under what circumstances would you stay with your spouse if they were cheating on you?

Applying for The Amazing Race

My girlfriend and I were talking last night and she mentioned out of the blue…we should apply for The Amazing Race. You see she is a very big fan of The Amazing Race. I have watched a total of 5 episodes over the years. I am a big Survivor fan, the Amazing Race, not so much. But the more we talked about it, the more we thot why not. Her and I are very funny together, and we have fun when we are together. She has lived abroad in Chile.

We used to work together in the Study Abroad department at the university where I work. I now work for another department, but her and I have become good friends. She is going through a rough patch, her and her husband have decided to divorce after 10 years together, (but that is for a different post).

So I think we are going to do it. Apply that is. We don’t have a snowballs chance in hell, but nothing ventured, nothing gained. It would be just our luck to get picked. Then what would we do. We sure had a good laugh about it last night.

Keep your fork…

There was a young woman who had been diagnosed with a terminal illness and had been given
three months to live. So as she was getting her things “in order,” she contacted her
Pastor (person from church) and had him come to her house to
discuss certain aspects of her final wishes. She told him which songs she wanted sung at the service,
what scriptures she would like read, and what outfit she wanted to be buried in.

Everything was in order and the Pastor was preparing to leave when the
young woman suddenly remembered something very important to her.
“There’s one more thing,” she said excitedly.

“What’s that?” came the Pastor’s reply.

“This is very important,” the young woman continued.
“I want to be buried with a fork in my right hand.”

The Pastor stood looking at the young woman, not knowing quite what to say.

“That surprises you, doesn’t it?” the young woman asked.

“Well, to be honest, I’m puzzled by the request,” said the Pastor.

The young woman explained. “My grandmother once told me this story, and from that time on
I have always tried to pass along its message to those I love
and those who are in need of encouragement. In all my years of attending socials and dinners,
I always remember that when the dishes of the main
course were being cleared, someone would inevitably lean over and say,
‘Keep your fork.’
It was my favorite part because I knew that something better was coming…like
velvety chocolate cake or deep-dish apple pie. Something wonderful, and
with substance! ‘So, I just want people to see me there in that casket
with a fork in my hand and I want them to wonder ‘What’s with the fork?’”
Then I want you to tell them:

“Keep your fork…the best is yet to come.”

A mother eagle has died

At the Norfolk Botanical Garden in Norfolk, Virginia they have a camera up high in a tree which records the activity in an eagle’s nest. Every year a new batch of sweet baby eagles (eaglets) hatch and you can watch their progress on this eagle cam.

Here is a video of the third eaglet being born.

Over the weekend, the mother eagle was hit by an airplane and killed. They are removing the three eaglets this morning. They do not think the father will be able to take care of them without the mother eagle. So very sad.
