I always hate to see the holidays depart. So much expectation and then…splat! It’s gone.
We had a wonderful holiday with my husbands family. It was especially festive this year. We traveled to the D.C. area over the Christmas weekend to spend time with Bogie’s family. All were present. Bogie’s parents, brother, sister-in-law and his two nephews. It was a white Christmas…just delightful.
For New Year’s we rented a cabin in one of the state parks. It was actually a guest house on park property. Very nice. It was on one of the larger rivers in Virginia. Beautiful view. It slept eight people, so just the right size for all of us. I will try to upload some photos tonight. My father-in-law took quite a few, so I need to get them from him. I forgot my camera…again.
The cabin had all the amenities…refrigerator, stove, microwave, washer and dryer, cookware and all the linens. We only had to supply the food and drink. I made the reservation blind, but it turned out to be a very nice place. It was windy and cold, but we managed to get in some walking each day.
Today it is back to work…which is where the crying comes in.
Happy New Year indeed!

I’m crying too. The decorations are down and stored, the healthy eating has started, the grind of work has begun with no substantial holidays to look forward to. It is just so sad. This time of year is so special. It is sad to see it pass knowing that we have another 360 days left to go.
We had a wonderful time too! The cabin was a great find…thank you so much Thotlady for doing the research and arranging. It was so beautiful and relaxing and comfortable.
I am not thrilled with the prospect of “back to reality” but here we are:-)
Can’t wait to see the pictures..and only 300 some odd days before Christmas!
It was wonderful, we loved being with all of the family. Can’t wait to do it again, would love to see Belle Isle in the spring or summer. Love MIL
Does sound wonderful!
