Early Sunday morning (around 4:30am), I woke up due to our female dog Charlotte moving around.  I could hear her tags jingling.  She doesn’t usually move around at night, so I decided to turn on the light to see what was up.

Bogey asks me, Why did you turn on the light, in the same breath he says, oh my God, there is a bat in here, you heard me… a BAT, in our bedroom.

We have had them in the house before.  I got up and went into the bathroom, cowering, of course.  Bogey says…you can’t stay in there, that is where I am going to shoo the bat, so he can fly out the window. So I go into my walk-in closet instead and call the puppies in there too.

Bogey proceeds to try and get the bat to go into the bathroom.  The bat flies around the room, and is determined not to cooperate.  Finally it lands on a valance, Bogey runs into the library to get our new mesh waste basket.  He put the basket over the bat and then says he needs something that will cover the waste basket opening.  I happen to see some cardboard in my closet so I hand it to him.  Surprising this works, it covers the opening.  Bogey takes the bat into the bathroom, he had already opened the window, and shakes the waste basket trying to get the bat to fly out.  Finally the bat finds the opening and out it goes.

The strange thing about the whole incident is, the puppies never barked once.  The only way we knew about the bat was because I heard Charlotte moving around more than normal.  The dogs didn’t seem afraid either…they came right into the closet with me.
