Missy’s 3X Thursday

1. Are your parents still alive? If so, do you get along with them?

My father passed away May 25, 2003.  Almost every day I think of him and how much I miss him.  He was the best father a girl could have.  He could fix anything…and I mean anything.  Not just material things like cars and bikes.  He had the best common sense of anyone I have ever met.  He loved me so much, and I miss having someone love me that much in my life.  He made me feel special.  I was so proud to be his daughter.

I used to do crossword puzzles with him after he retired.  We’d sit at the kitchen table and do the puzzle together.  I am crying right now just remembering the wonderful times we had doing those puzzles.  I love him so much…still.

My mother is still living.  She turned 77 years old this past Veteran’s Day.  I get a long well with my mother.  We have similar interest.  We both like to knit, and sew.  She also quilts, which I would like to start some day.  I miss going shopping with her and maybe out to lunch.  We used to go to Shopko together quite often.  Love Shopko.  She has been going through some health problems lately, and I always feel bad that I live so far from her when she isn’t feeling well.  There is not much I can do other than call and give her encouragement.  She knows I love her though and I am here if she needs me.

2. Do your parents live close? Why/why not?

My Mom lives in Wiscosin and I live on the eastern seaboard.  My husbands job brought us out east by way of Indiana and West Virginia.  We have lived in our current home for seven years.  I always try to tell my husband, “wouldn’t it be fun to move back to Wisconsin”.  He just gives me one of his looks.  I always tease him that if we break up I will take the dogs and move back to Wisconsin.  He doesn’t like it when I say things like that.  I can’t say that I blame him.

As for my Dad living close.  Well, he is always very close to me.  Always near by.  He is in every breath I take, and in every beat of my heart.  I feel him always surrounding me.  I talk to him often.  Especially when I am very stressed out.  He comforts me.

3. Name one thing valuable that your parents taught you. Why did you choose this?

You make your own way in this world.  Nothing will be handed to you.  It takes hard work, honesty and perseverence.  So those of you who want the government to bail you out of your financial problems, need to dig deep down and ask yourself, who is ultimately responsible for my financial wows.  It isn’t the government.  We all need to take resonsibility for our spending.  That’s what my parents taught me…DON’T SPEND WHAT YOU DON’T HAVE!  Words to live by…literally.

Well those are my three answers.  Take them or leave them!

If you want to participate.  Mosy on over to Missy Williams place.

Tomorrow is my last day of work.  It came too fast.  I will miss everyone I work with terribly.  But life must go on.  I am looking forward to starting my new job next week.  Push forward young thotlady…push forward.
