Well we had a busy weekend. We went to D.C. to help my husband’s brother and family move. They moved into Maryland about 10 miles from their old place. Luckily they hired a moving company to move the big stuff. They finished on Friday and we started moving the small stuff and boxes on Saturday morning. It went pretty smoothly. There were three men and two women. Their two sons were at a friends house during the move. We brought our two dogs along and they were pretty good. They did bark at their male friend a few times, because they had never met him before.
Their new place is a condo in a very nice area. It has four bedrooms, three upstairs and one in the basement. The basement is carpeted and has a finished bathroom. They have three other bathrooms. One 1/2 bath on the main level and two others upstairs with the bedrooms. It’s nice that each of their boys will have their own room. They also have a nice deck and a patio off the basement.
We headed back home on Sunday around 10:30 in the morning. The traffic was a little heavy out of D.C. for a Sunday, but we made it home fine.
On Saturday I completely went off my diet, you can check my progress through this link. At lunch I had a sub sandwich (turkey), and in the evening we had sushi. Oh and I also had a cookie…yummy! And a few beers…a must have after any move. I went back to my diet on Sunday. I only lost one pound last week. I was just glad I didn’t gain anything.
Moving can be very traumatic, and not just the physical move, but the adjustment of living in a new area. New routes to the grocery store, to work, the metro. A new bagel shop, coffee shop, etc… You get the idea. We moved a few times when I was growing up. As an adult I have moved many times. Always stressful!
If you move to a new town, you have to find a new doctor, dentist and even a hair salon. Finding a new hair stylist has always been my biggest challenge. I still haven’t found someone who cuts my hair well…and we have lived here for 7 years. Oh and don’t forget a new nail place. I must have my pedicures. That ususally isn’t a problem, since there are nail salons on every corner.
Of course I didn’t want to go back to work this morning…but I like to eat and it is always good to have shelter.
Happy Monday everyone! If God wanted us to enjoy Mondays, he would have put them later in the day.

The thought of moving is enough to keep me in my house for AT LEAST 20 more years.
A new hair salon!?! Forget it. No deal.
Every time I move it’s been the hardest thing to replace.
I can’t thank you both enough for helping us move! Moving really stinks for eveyone involved–for all the reasons you mention but also for the dear friends and family who kindly offer to help.
We are still unloading the boxes, hanging photos, and trying to find a new place for everything (you know…a place for everything and everything in its place). Truly the best thing about moving is that it forces you to purge. We have garbaged and donated more things than I could have imagined…but then again…why do we still have so much stuff????
Amen to that. There seems to be always more ‘stuff’.
