I have been knitting for 35 years or so. Mostly off and on. There have been long stretches in-between where I have put away my knitting needles. My mother took up knitting around the time she retired. She is more knowledgeable than I am when it comes to reading patterns. About three years ago I started knitting again in earnest. I made quite a few gifts for Christmas that year. I really like the preciseness of knitting and the fact that I start with a piece of yarn (a long piece of yarn) and actually create something to wear from this yarn. Really quite amazing. I know some knitters have gotten into knitting on machines. Of course this is much faster and the designs can be more intricate. I prefer hand knitting, it is relaxing and something I can do while watching T.V. or talking with my husband. I can take it with me when I travel.
Knitting is one of the things I do to satisfy my creative side. I am a very analytical person, so I need to find activities that balance the analytical side of me.
I recently finished a sweater for myself. One of the biggest items I have ever knitted. It turned out well, but, isn’t there always a but, I don’t particularly like the way it looks on me. It fits, it just isn’t the most flattering piece of clothing I have. Never-the-less, I think it looks good. Take a look at my sweater and a couple of other sweaters I have made (both baby sweaters).
This baby sweater has the cutest little motif in the back
This is a baby komono sweater
P.S. Of course my photography needs work…you can see part of my foot in the first photo and the camera strap in the last photo.
